The Maine State police charged Justin Pillsbury, 38, of Augusta with murder in connection with the stabbing death of 24-year-old Jillian Jones.

Pillsbury was taken into custody after being released from Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, where he had been treated for what police are calling self-induced stab wounds.

He was taken to the Kennebec County jail and is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday or Tuesday.

The stabbing happened this past Wednesday night at 32 Crosby Street in Augusta, where they found Jones dead and Pillsbury injured.

Jones grew up in Bingham and graduated from Valley High School in 2008.

Jones leaves behind a daughter, her parents, three brothers, two sisters and a sister-in-law. Friends are holding a candlelight vigil for Jones this Sunday at 5 p.m. at Quimby Middle School in Bingham. The public is invited.
