Ask farmer Peter Bragdon of Vassalboro, 'hey, what's up?' and he might just say 'yes, hay is what's up'. He just won a $300,000 Value Added Producer Grant that will help him manufacture a 'hay log' that can be used as fuel in fireplaces or wood stoves, according to the office of U.S. Representative Chellie Pingree.Bragdon has been haying for 30 years and he has developed a way to take non-feed hay and turn into logs that can be used as fuel to heat your home.

The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
