The Boots n Bulls Rodeo and Concert will be held at the Topsham Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 17th from noon to four. Featured rodeo will be Rawhide Rodeo with the featured concert, Joe Diffie.

This year’s Boots n Bulls Rodeo will feature (among other things) 12 bull riders. Bull riding is one of the most popular and dangerous events at the rodeo. If you have ever thought ‘I could do that’, here are things you may not know about bull riding.

  1. Bulls are mean SOB’s and don’t particularly like you and are aggressive and most find it amusing to try and horn you or step on you once you’re on the ground.
  2. A qualified ride is 8 seconds. The clock stops when the riders hand come out of the rope, touches the ground or his free arm touches the bull.
  3. A bull always gets scored on how difficult he is to ride.
  4. The hardest bucking bull to ever be ridden was ‘Red Rock’. He bucked more than 300 riders in the 1980’s and was ‘never’ successfully ridden for 8 seconds.

The Boots n Bulls Rodeo is Presented by Ray Haskell Ford Lincoln, Townsquare Media and B98.5
