UPDATE-1/18/19-It appears that despite a notice on the door saying the store would be reopening, the Taco Bell on Western Ave. in Augusta is permanently closed.

According to a report from WMTW, the Western Ave. location is one of four in Maine that has been closed down. The story said the other closed locations are: Center Street in Auburn, Washington Avenue in Portland, and Alfred Street in Biddeford. The Taco Bell on Civic Center Drive remains open.

The state Department of Labor is sending its rapid response team  to assist employees who have lost their jobs from the sudden closing. The department plans to hold a session for workers on Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. in the Augusta Career Center. There will also be a session on Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Lewiston Career Center.

Earlier today (January 7th), a listener alerted us to the fact the Taco Bell restaurant on Western Avenue in Augusta was closed.

Stopping by for lunch, they found the doors locked and this sign posted on the door:

When we called 207.512.4788, the listed number for the business, we found it was disconnected.

Whatever the reason for their sudden closing, we wish them all the best and look forward to their re-opening.
