A world record Christmas stocking is set to be unveiled in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The record-setting stocking is 1,600 pounds and measures 7,663 square feet.

The stocking will be unveiled at Arnette Park in Fayetteville this Saturday. It was created by knitters in all 50 states, four Canadian provinces and Ireland. It’s a fund raiser from Caron United brand yarn which raised $100,000 for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.

It was assembled in Fayetteville this week and will be on display Saturday only during the city's Christmas in the Park celebration between 6 and 9 p.m. It was knitted in 3 x 3 feet swaths and put together in Fayetteville.

After the 139-foot-tall stocking has been put on display, it will be taken apart to create more than 1,100 blankets, officials said. Those will be donated to military hospitals, like Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.
