The current world record for the lowest limbo was set in 2010, by an 18-year-old from Buffalo, New York.  Shemika Charles, who was born in Trinidad, set the record on the Regis and Kelly show September 23, 2010. The Limbo dance is the unofficial dance of Trinidad, so it seems fit a Trinidadian would break the record.

The limbo has a bar set and the dancer tries to go under the bar, as the dance progresses, the bar gets lower and lower. Miss Charles trained with trainer Bob Diaz and practiced four time day before attempting the world record.

As the Chubby Checker song says, ‘how low can you go?’ Shemika Charles set the limbo record at an unbelievable 8.5 inches!
