Zac Brown Band Hope to Continue Working With Dave Grohl
In a surprising step away from the expected, Zac Brown Band recently released an EP, ‘The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1,’ which was heartily received. Now, the band members admit they hope to continue working with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl in the future!
In an interview with Billboard, Clay Cook opens up about ZBB's experience in recording Vol. 1. "Vol. 1 is literally everything we recorded, but we liked the idea of adding to this at some point," he shares. "We don’t know what the future holds, but we like the idea, and Dave loves the idea of making more music, too."
"It’s as open-ended to us as it is to you, but Dave was cool with calling it Vol. 1," Cook adds. "So maybe Vol. 2 comes in 30 years; we don’t know. But we love the idea of the intention to do more, that’s for sure.”
ZBB met Grohl at the 2013 Grammy Awards, which led to the four-song collaboration that debuted at No. 5 on the Top Country Albums chart. "We didn't really know what to expect," Cook says. "We just knew (Grohl) was kind of a cool guy. And we were just trying to break away from our normal fashion (of recording) a little bit."
Their expectations were clearly exceeded -- fans loved the band's newest project and gobbled it up. Grohl was also surprised when they named the album after him, even saying it was the most flattering thing anyone had done for him.
ZBB debuted 'Day for the Dead' at the 2013 CMA Awards, and even superstar Carrie Underwood expressed her excitement while introducing the set. From the response they've received, ZBB and Dave Grohl are a match made in country music heaven!
