'Zero Dark Thirty' looks like the collision of a number of great things. Add Kathryn Bigelow - the first woman to win a Best Directing Oscar - to a based on a true story procedural about the hunting and killing of Osama Bin-Laden, and a cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, and Mark Strong, and you've got a winning combination. Now there's a new trailer for this likely Oscar front-runner.

And we are so sold from this trailer. Though Jessica Chastain may be playing the role of "we need to have a woman in this movie to deliver exposition" the film looks tense and fascinating. And because Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal previously collaborated on 'The Hurt Locker,' we know they can do this material right.

Here's the synopsis:

For a decade, an elite team of intelligence and military operatives, working in secret across the globe, devoted themselves to a single goal: to find and eliminate Osama bin Laden. Zero Dark Thirty reunites the Oscar(R) winning team of director-producer Kathryn Bigelow and writer-producer Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) for the story of history’s greatest manhunt for the world’s most dangerous man.

And here's the trailer. The film hits theaters December 19.
