Blake Shelton to Host 2016 Kids Choice Awards

Blake Shelton has been picked to host Nickelodeon’s 2016 Kids Choice Awards. The move comes because country music continues to attract a younger audience and Disney wants to capitalize.

Recently, there was a spinoff of radio Disney with Radio Disney Country at the CMA Awards. For Nickelodeon, they believe the appeal of Shelton with younger and older viewers will translate in to more parents tuning into the show.

Last year, Nick Jonas hosted, and while the younger audience tuned in, they lost the older viewership. They hope having Shelton in 2016 will boost the 18 to 49 audience.
