If you have bought a ceiling fan from Home Depot recently be aware that over 190,000 ceiling fans sold exclusively at The Home Depot have been recalled due to an issue with blades. The blades on the defective fans could detach while the fan is on, with the potential to cause injury.

The recall notice from the U.S. Product Safety Commission states that between April and October 2020 there were over 180,000 of the fans sold in the United States.

King Of Fans, the distributor, has received 47 reports of blades detaching from the fans. These complaints include both personal damage and property damage due to the blades detaching during normal operation.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall involved fans in matte white, matte black, black and polished nickel finishes. If you own or have purchased one of these fans, the company suggests to immediately stop using the fans. A warning in the recall notice indicates if you notice “blade movement or uneven gaps between the blades and fan body,” you should contact the distributor of the fans, King of Fans, for a free replacement. You can contact them toll-free at 866-443-1291 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or by e-mail at MaraRecall@kingoffans.com
King of Fans issued a statement on their website.
