Fatal Accident In Monmouth This Morning

One person has died after a head on collision between a car and sports utility vehicle on U.S. Route 202 in Monmouth this morning.One woman died in the collision Thursday morning around 7:30, three people were also injured in the accident. The accident occurred in front of Hall's Collision Center on U.S. Route 202 in Monmouth.

Traffic was down to one lane as Monmouth Police, State Police and the District Attorney's Office are at the scene reconstructing and assisting in the accident investigation.

Monmouth Police Chief Kevin Mulherin told the Kennebec Journal that a female passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured were taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. The extent of their injures aren't known.
