Homeless Shelter Wedding

There will be a celebration of holy matrimony this Saturday at the Hope Haven Gospel Mission in Lewiston this Saturday. Both David and Jessica were once homeless and not only found shelter at Hope Haven, they found each other.Jessica went to Hope Haven in the summer of 2008 and David hitchhiked across the country from California to Maine and ended up at Hope Haven in 1991.

They have known each other for several years, and started dating in the summer of 2012. David proposed to Jessica in December at Monument Square in Portland, in front of an outdoor Christmas tree. David got down on one knee and popped the question as diners inside a nearby restaurant looked on.

The wedding will take place this Saturday at Hope Haven. The dining room will be decorated and pink roses will fill the room. The pastor at Hope Haven, John Robbins, will officiate.
