
Maine’s Statehouse Welcomes it’s Very First Bomb Detection Dog, Teddy
The Maine Capitol Police are excited to announce and introduce someone very special to Maine and beyond.
Meet Teddy, their very first bomb detection dog! He is ready to increase safety and security at the Statehouse complex, according to a press release.
Tell us about Teddy!
Teddy is a 17 month old Labrador Retriever who joined the team after extensive training with the Maine State Police K9 Unit.
He is now completely certified and ready to put his paws and snout to work. He was certified through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, as per the release. He is said to be a vital asset in keeping the entirety of the Statehouse safe.

Well, he's not only a vital asset to all of us but has made a massive milestone being the 100th detection dog to graduate from the AKC Patriotic Puppy Program!
What is the AKC Patriotic Puppy Program?
According to the site, this incredible program addresses the important need for domestically raised and trained dogs that are capable of detecting explosives, which is essential to our national security.

Now that Teddy is a part of the team, the Maine Capitol Police can now do daily sweeps, make sure any potential threats are detected early and deescalate hoaxes.
