Maine has some great local salsas and hot sauces worth celebrating, but let’s be honest—when people think of Maine, they usually think of lobster or blueberries first. And really, who can blame them?

So, given that, how do we determine the most popular hot sauce in Maine—let alone in America? Was that a question on the census that we somehow missed?

Cheapism used Instacart’s 2025 report to determine the most popular hot sauce in each state by analyzing purchase data from the grocery delivery service. Their findings reveal that while classic brands remain dominant overall, some regional favorites continue to stand out nationwide.

Alright, with that in mind, which hot sauce is the most popular in Maine and across most of America?

According to Cheapism and their report, ‘The Most Popular Hot Sauce in Every State,’ it’s no surprise that Maine’s favorite hot sauce is also the nation’s most popular: Frank’s RedHot. Cheapism had the following to say about America’s number-one hot sauce:

If Hot Sauce were a democracy, Frank’s would win in a landslide. Frank’s RedHot has been spicing up American kitchens since 1918, and based on Instacart’s latest data, it’s still more than relevant. This cayenne-packed classic is the big secret behind Buffalo wings, which — fun fact — were first made with Frank’s in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York.

Not only is Frank’s RedHot the most popular in Maine, but it also tops the list in 28 other states!
