This Video Tour Through Maine’s Bangor Mall is Shocking

When I lived in Bangor where I worked I got my first job at a radio station, one of the places I would visit regularly is the Bangor Mall. It was 1993 and the Bangor Mall was where I would go to buy Nintendo games, and comic books and grab something to eat. But times have changed and the mall is just a shadow of its former self.

A Tour of the Bangor Mall Today

A reporter for The Bangor Daily News recently went into the Bangor Mall and spent the day there, walking through what was left of this popular mall that isn't so popular anymore. She recorded what the experience was like on camera and shared it in an article about the state of the Bangor Mall.

What she captured there was shocking to me, especially remembering the popularity of the Bangor Mall over 30 years ago. Put simply, it's now a dump.

Where Are All The Stores?

As the reporter walks in, the mall looks like a ghost town. Former stores are now empty. There are hardly any customers in the mall. There's just nothing here anymore and that's just sad. How is this mall even staying open?

Leaking Roof

Things are so bad that buckets and caution signs are on the floor because the roof leaks and needs to be repaired. It's a barren wasteland that doesn't come close to the retail paradise it once was.

Here's the full video of the look inside the Bangor Mall. Granted, the Bangor Mall does have a few tenants within the mall or connected to the mall, but it's still nothing compared to what it once was.
