UPDATE: Maine Pup Recovers Slowly From Hit and Run Accident
Sweet Ben has a long road to recovery, made just a little easier by generous Mainers.
Ben, the sweetest Bernedoodle with expressive eyebrows and an even more expressive tail, was hit by a driver who left the scene. Because he's got doodle in him, he's still wagging his tail...just a little slower. Ben and his person, Kerry, were looking at a mountain of vet bills that the community has helped with.

How was Ben the Bernedoodle hurt in Maine?
Ben was headed to his daily adventure into Winnick Woods in Cape Elizabeth to play with his furry friends. But he was hit by a car that heartlessly sped away, leaving him injured. He was rushed to the Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) in Scarborough, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). If you are a pet owner, you know the insane amount of money this will cost.
Is Ben going to be okay?
Ben is on the road to recovery so he can "chase squirrels, steal hearts, and spread joy to everyone he meets." - Ben's person Kerry
After nearly two months of slow recovery, it was apparent that something wasn't quite right. He is doing well, but they found another broken bone missed in the initial X-rays. So he had to have another surgery, which is another minimal 8 weeks of recovery. And another large expense.
Generous Mainers have made Ben's recovery possible
Strangers have been donating to help get Ben back on his paws. Many of those donations came anonymously. This is the goodness of Mainers that often gets overshadowed by all the bad. If you are able, and you may not be, if you could help Ben, that would be great. The GoFundMe is here.
