A robbery was recently reported via WMTW at Maine Family Federal Credit Union. IT took place in the afternoon just before 3:40pm.

Maine Family FCU is located on Sabattus Street in Lewiston.

They confirmed the robbery on their Facebook page posting,

“Our Lewiston Lobby will be closed for the remainder of the day on February 3rd, 2026, due to a robbery. All employees are safe, and law enforcement is actively involved. The drive-up will remain open until 5:00pm or you can visit our Auburn branch”

Commitment Shines After Lewiston Robbery

A commenter shared that since the employees are shaken up maybe they should close the drive-up window as well.

Maine Family responded by saying,

“Thanks for your thoughts. We offered to close but out staff was insistent that we continue to help our members until closing.”

This is care and commitment at it’s very finest.

As for the robbery, Lewiston PD used Payne, their K-9 to locate a suspect who fled the scene. They also used a drone.

As per the article, an individual was apprehended later without incident. No injuries are being reported. There aren’t any more details but the investigation remains open.

Today, they shared a moment of thanks to local law enforcement and praise to the community on their page for the thoughts and well-wishes.

In a moment that could have easily led to a shutdown, fully, they chose to stay open with resilience and commitment to their members and community as a whole.
