Iconic Fat Boy Drive-In Restaurant in Brunswick, Maine, Up for Sale Again
The longstanding iconic Fat Boy Drive-In in Brunswick, Maine, has been around since the 1950s.
According to the restaurant's website, the Burton family owned it for over 50 years before passing it on to a new owner in 2020 who hoped to keep the legacy of the place alive.
Sadly, it looks like the future of Fat Boy is up in the air as the restaurant is now up for sale once again.
Listed on October 22, 2024, by Marc Fishman of The Fishman Realty group, the drive-in at 111 Bath Road, is going for $875,000.
Ever wanted to run your own drive-in restaurant? Now's your chance.
The listing states that you can either "continue operating as is or bring your own visions and transformations to this iconic property. This is a turnkey business with all [furniture, fixtures, and equipment] included with the sale."
So will the new owner try and take Fat Boy to its next version or will a wholly new restaurant and concept take over?
There is no mention of the sale on Fat Boy's Facebook page at the moment, but the last posts the restaurant put up in September indicated its return in spring 2025.
It would certainly be sad to see the end of such an iconic restaurant if someone doesn't choose to take up the mantle.
And if someone does choose to keep Fat Boy going, what new changes might they bring to the establishment?
Or maybe there are some things from Fat Boy's past they would want to bring back?
What do you hope happens for the future of Fat Boy Drive-In? What are some of your best memories of eating at this landmark Maine restaurant?
