Maine’s Chase’s Daily Named One of America’s Best Vegetarian Restaurants
I thoroughly enjoy being a carnivore.
There aren’t many types of meat I’ll pass on. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a solid meatless meal. In fact, it’s often a healthier option, too.
Fortunately, here in Maine, we’re lucky to have a wide array of restaurants that highlight those healthier ingredients exceptionally well. One standout is a spot up in Belfast that has long been a leader among vegetarian restaurants in the state: Chase’s Daily.
Chase's Daily is One of the Most Popular Restaurants in Midcoast Maine
Chase’s Daily is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The restaurant’s story dates back to the late 1960s, when the Chase family first moved to Maine and began farming. Over time, younger generations continued the farming tradition while also getting into baking. Opening a restaurant was a natural next step, and Chase’s Daily officially opened its doors in 2000.
The food there is exquisite. I should know — I’ve been. I actually walked in not realizing it was a vegetarian restaurant. I remember devouring a pizza and some tacos, not leaving behind a single crumb. Everything was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. It’s the kind of local, farm-to-table experience we all dream about.
Chase’s Daily is located right in the heart of Belfast, making it one of the town’s true centerpieces. It still operates with a bakery and fresh produce section, along with a full brunch menu to enjoy. You can even pre-order pizzas for Friday night pickup.
Every town deserves a Chase’s Daily.
Chase's Daily Was Named Maine's Best Vegetarian Restaurant
All of this praise certainly isn’t just coming from me. Chase’s Daily has been recognized as Maine’s best vegetarian restaurant by the popular food site Taste of Home. That’s quite the honor.
Here’s what the site had to say about this Belfast institution:
Hit the farmer’s market, swing by the florist and then stop by your favorite meat-free eatery for a tofu scramble. Or, tackle all three at once simply by heading to Chase’s Daily. This family-run operation is a grower, grocer and local go-to for vegetarian brunch on Sundays.
That sounds like a brunch I’d love to check out.

Congratulations to Chase’s Daily on this well-deserved recognition. I can’t recommend a visit there enough—especially since it’s located in one of Maine’s most underrated towns. So, skip the meat for a meal and simply enjoy what this wonderful Earth has to offer.
