Popular Portland, Maine, Bar Opens New Location in Colorado
You know you've got something good when you pick it up and drop it down anywhere across the country and it could be a hit.
For many years, one of the most popular bars in Portland, Maine, has been the underground speakeasy known as Lincoln's. The concept of the bar is simple: everything on the menu is five bucks.
Whether that's a craft beer, a glass of wine, or a standard cocktail, five bucks can nab you a libation from your bartender. Honest Abe wouldn't have it any other way.
The overwhelming popularity of Lincoln's in Portland prompted its owners to think a little larger. A few years back, they decided to open another Lincoln's in the college town of Burlington, Vermont. Unsurprisingly, the bar has been a hit.
But life has its twists and turns, even for owners of popular bars which have become standards in cities. Mark Ohlson, one of the masterminds behind the original Lincoln's, didn't have the same success in Portland with another creation, Citrus. The cocktail bar/nightclub closed at the beginning of this year.
So, Ohlson decided to venture to a new city nearly all the way across the country: Denver, Colorado. Cause when you have something good, why not try it somewhere else?
Lincoln's Denver officially opened over the weekend. While it's a new location on new turf, the concept hasn't changed. The menu remains five bucks. And as with the other two Lincoln's locations, it's a speakeasy whose location needs to be found, not told.
