Susan's Fish & Chips Announces Closure on Social Media
In a surprising announcement on social media, Susan's Fish & Chips along Forest Avenue in Portland, Maine, has announced that the restaurant will be permanently closing.
Located inside a renovated garage, Susan's forged its way into becoming a beloved institution in the city. Susan's prided itself on serving local seafood as well as hand breading its signature dish.
But what really kept people coming back for more than three decades was the prices. Susan's Fish & Chips remained one of the most affordable seafood joints in Portland.
Rising Costs Are The Reason Behind Susan's Fish & Chips Closing
In the social media announcement, Susan's Fish & Chips declared the reason for closing was based around one thing, costs.
Susan's said that times have certainly changed for restaurants. Increased costs on products, increased wages for employees and just other increased costs to maintain quality and cleanliness led to the decision to close the Portland, Maine, staple after all these years.
Susan's Fish & Chips will close permanently on Friday, October 30.
