Despite ongoing calls for Governor Mills to reopen the state of Maine, the Maine CDC continues to report an uptick in the number of deaths and cases reported. However there is hope shining through as the number of recovered is greater than the number of currently infected patients.

According to the Bangor Daily News, the statewide death toll now sits at 44 and the total number of confirmed cases is at 937.

485 Mainers have fully recovered from the infection while 408 people currently have active cases. The Maine CDC says the majority of cases has been in people over the age of 50 and has been a fairly even split between men and women.

With 5 deaths announced today from coronavirus, this marks the deadliest day in Maine from pandemic start to date.
