It is National Police Week and time to honor those who their lives to keep us safe. The Maine Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Service happens Thursday (May 16, 2019 @11 AM*) and is always a beautiful and touching event. This year Corporal Eugene Cole will be the 79th name added after he was killed in the line of duty in April of 2018. Trooper Campbell’s name, who died in April of this year, will be added next year. According to WGME Eugene Cole’s name will be one of the 371 names added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. Those names were unveiled this week for National Police Week.
*As a side note, traffic aound the memorial (near the Maine State Library) in Augusta is shutdown around lunch time during the event.
