Charlie and Norma Pooler of Bingham celebrated their 78th wedding anniversary this Saturday. When they were married in 1935, Norma had made her own wedding dress and Charlie wore his high school graduation suit.

A 62-turbine wind farm has been proposed by Boston-based First Wind, if approved, this would be New England's largest wind farm. The proposed wind farm, dubbed the 'Bingham Wind Project', would have a generating capacity of 186 megawatts with the capacity to power 75,000 homes.

The state Fire Marshal's Office has charged a Bingham man last night with arson. The fires in Bingham destroyed the town's public works garage. Brandon L. Sherwood, 29, was charged with one count of arson.

The small town of Bingham, Maine is known for being halfway between the equator and the North Pole, saw two fires, two hours apart this past Saturday night. The town garage and Here's The Scoop Ice Cream shop were both heavily damaged by fire.
