One person's trash could be another person's treasure but is it legal to dig through a dumpster in Maine? It depends.

In 1983, an 11 year-old sent a Coke bottle into the ocean, only to be found a few hundred miles away decades later. Sounds like this will someday be a commercial.

In one of those unexplainable events life gives us every now and then, a clean-up after Superstorm Sandy, has provided one of them. As billions of pieces of debris were being cleaned off the beaches in the Northeast, one worker in the small town of Patchogue, New York, noticed a green plastic ginger ale bottle that looked like just another piece of garbage.

It’s an official Guinness Book of World Records message in a bottle found in the ocean.  Fisherman Andrew Leaper found a bottle in the seas around Scotland that was set adrift in 1914. A world record was confirmed for the item being the oldest message in  bottle ever recovered.  It seems the bottle was released in 1914 as part of a government experiment to map undercurrents around Scotland.
