Just a quick 'thank you' to all who contributed to B98.5's 16th Annual 'Tanksgiving Food Drive. Without the generosity of people like you we couldn't do this.
I started working at B98.5 on August 20, 2000 and that November we started the Tanksgiving Food Drive. It was the idea of then morning show co-host Genny Judge. It's hard to believe that we are already doing the 16th Annual Tanksgiving Food Drive!
The annual 'Tanks'Giving food drive is almost here! Central Maine's largest annual food drive will begin on Monday, November 2nd. It all started in 2000 and we've collected food each year since then.

It all started in November of 2000 and 14 years later we are getting ready for central Maine's largest food drive. It's the 'Tanksgiving' food drive with B98.5 and the Maine Army National Guard.
Gov. LePage is taking some time off from the campaign trail this weekend to open up his home for the 4th annual Blaine House food drive. Mainers are invited to drop off non-perishable goods and get a tour of the Blaine House in Augusta from the governor between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The food drive at the Blaine House will also be held on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
When we go out each day with the Maine Army National Guard and stand out front of supermarkets, we treat everyone the same. We ask everyone to make a donation of non-perishable food items and/or cash for the Salvation Army and local area food banks. You never know what might happen.
Well, something incredible started off our 3rd day of 'Tanks'giving.
When I knew that 'Tanks'giving was coming up, I wanted to make sure the entire state of Maine was able to know about it. Our station reaches 160,000 in our listening area and everyone has been spreading the word around and tuning in to see how our food drive is going.
Well, I decided to make a few more phone calls.
And the good people at WABI-TV Channel 5 were able to answer my call!
WHO IS SHE??? WHERE DOES SHE COME FROM?
That's the Mystery Lady!
She comes around for 1 week a year and spreads her Dunkin Donuts cheer with Randy while he is at the tank for 'Tanks'giving. But....
WHO IS SHE???
As we get ready to start our 14th annual Tanksgiving food drive there are some alarming facts about hunger in Maine. Ten years ago 9 percent of the state’s population, about 53,000, didn’t have enough food to put on their table. That number has jumped to 15 percent today, or 132,000 Mainer’s.
Governor and Mrs. LePage want to say ‘Thank you’ to everyone who helped out this year with the governor’s annual food drive. Maine's first family says the food drive in which donors dropped off non-perishables at the Blaine House brought in about 1,568 pounds of food for Maine families.
We have been writing a lot about our 13th annual 'TANKsgiving Food Drive' but I want to take a minute to thank the Maine Army National Guard, especially the 152nd Maintenance Division, for all their help and service during the week of collecting food...
THANK YOU! Thanks again this year for your wonderful support of B98.5′s 13th Annual “TANKS”giving Food Drive. After a long 98.5 hours, it was worth it. You have helped to donate 7 tons of food and about $3,700. That will go along way to feeding the hungry in central Maine. It's very much appreciated by the Augusta Salvation Army & the Waterville Salvation Army and many are food banks.
