Water covers nearly 75% of the Earth yet there have been more men to land on the moon than have gone to the deepest depth of the ocean. The deepest part of the ocean is the Marianna Trench and only two men have ever traveled there, 12 have gone to the moon.

On Saturday Russia will celebrate Cosmonaut Day in honor of Yuri Gagarin as the first man in space in 1961. Along with the celebration Russia’s Deputy Premier announced the Soviet Union’s plan to colonizing the moon by 2040.

NASA’s moon probe LADEE (Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer) has been studying the moon's thin atmosphere since its launch in September, 2013. This space probe will not be coming back to Earth; NASA is going to crash land it on the far side of the moon.

According to astronomers, the dark side of the moon is not dark or black as originally thought. They say it’s really turquoise. The astronomers did studies for two years of measurements at Hawaii’s Mauna Loa observatory and used telescopes made to use two color filters and the result: turquoise.
