It's Day 3 of B98.5′s 14th annual “Tanks”giving Food Drive, running through Friday (November 8th,) at the tank on top of the hill at Camp Keyes, just off Western Avenue in Augusta. The Morning Buzz's Randy McCoy is still manning the tent up by the tank, taking all of your donations.

When I knew that 'Tanks'giving was coming up, I wanted to make sure the entire state of Maine was able to know about it. Our station reaches 160,000 in our listening area and everyone has been spreading the word around and tuning in to see how our food drive is going. Well, I decided to make a few more phone calls. And the good people at WABI-TV Channel 5 were able to answer my call!

As we get ready to start our 14th annual Tanksgiving food drive there are some alarming facts about hunger in Maine. Ten years ago 9 percent of the state’s population, about 53,000, didn’t have enough food to put on their table. That number has jumped to 15 percent today, or 132,000 Mainer’s.

The annual B-98.5 'Tanks'Giving Food Drive is coming up! It will be happening the week of November 4th. We'll be teaming up with the Maine Army National Guard again this year to collect non-perishable food for the Salvation Army of Augusta and Waterville.

Governor Paul LePage and First Lady, Ann LePage will be holding their third annual Blaine House food Drive. It will take place on three consecutive Saturday's, from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. October 12, 19 and 26. The LePage family have hosted the event every year since the governor was elected.

We have been writing a lot about our 13th annual 'TANKsgiving Food Drive' but I want to take a minute to thank the Maine Army National Guard, especially the 152nd Maintenance Division, for all their help and service during the week of collecting food...

You have helped to donate 7 tons of food and about $3,700. That will go along way to feeding the hungry in central Maine. Today is election day and as I was broadcasting live from Goggin's IGA in Randolph this morning, I saw many customers walking into the store with their 'I Voted Today' stickers. I also saw plenty of generous people donating to the 'TANKS'giving food drive.

I have worked at B-98.5 since August 2000 and that November was the first year of 'TANKSgiving' food drive with the Maine Army National Guard. This year could be the coldest 'TANKSgiving' week we've had. On Monday, we kicked things off and I was with the Maine Army National Guard at Shaw's in Waterville.
