Winslow Family 4th of July Celebration

The Winslow Family 4th of July Celebration draws tens of thousands of visitors to Winslow each year. However, after 25 years, festival organizers say they are getting the message from town officials that it is time for a new venue.

The Winslow Family 4th of July pulled off a free country concert with country music star John Michael Montgomery, and it paid off with thousands attending and donations adding up for the show to break even.

It was country Sunday yesterday at Fort Halifax Park in Winslow yesterday, part of this year's Winslow Family 4th of July Celebration. During the festivities during country Sunday, committee chairman Kevin Douglass, made the announcement that country superstar John Michael Montgomery will be playing at Fort Halifax in Winslow next summer on July 3rd.

What a great way to kick off the Winslow Family 4th of July Celebration! Saturday night (6/29) festivities were held at Winslow Jr. High for the 'the 4th of July Pageant.' Congratulations to all participants and the winners.

Events for the Winslow Family 4th of July Celebration are now less than a month away and around 80 volunteers are still needed for the five-day event. Event Committee Chairman Kevin Douglass told the Kennebec Journal that around 20 volunteers of the needed 100 have signed up to help and in past years, all the needed volunteers had already committed by the end of May.
