To coincide with Baseball’s All Star game tonight, it's sport cliché week. You’ve heard them when a player is being interviewed and wants to say the right thing. Most are standard issue from some book professional athletes must be required to read before they do interviews. I know there’s no such book, but it seems like it.

In the losers' locker room you may have heard, ‘we came up a little short’ or 'we didn’t get the job done’. During the playoffs you always hear, ‘we’re taking it one game at a time’.

‘We just wanted to make a statement ‘ is another you hear often. And, of course, what would an interview be without the tried and true; “he gave it 100 percent’.
