A Maine artist, Marsden Hartley, has an exhibition of his Maine art at The Met Breuer organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Colby College Museum of Art.

The exhibition is running now through June 18 at The Met Breuer and then will come to the Colby College Museum from July 8 to November 12.

Hartley, from Lewiston, will show about 90 painting and drawings that shows his lifelong love of Maine. The exhibit will show a wide range of his art from Maine in the early 1900’s, Maine beautiful coastline to Mount Katahdin.

Hartley was born in 1877 in Lewiston and died in Ellsworth in 1943 and spent time in Paris and Berlin but always painted Maine subjects and became known as the’ painter from Maine.’
