The Arby's Restaurant in Bangor is closing on Friday, July 31st. The owner, Robert Smith, is retiring at the age of 77. Smith opened the Arby's in Bangor in 1983, and it's one of six Arby's in Maine. The other locations are in Augusta, Auburn, Presque Isle, South Portland and Topsham. Those locations are staying open as they are all owned by other franchisees.

Smith is working on selling the restaurant and he hopes that some of the 20 people who work at the restaurant will find employment with a new owner when he finds one.

Arby's spokesman Jason Rollins says that Arby's as a brand is 'doing extremely well, as evidenced by our Q2 System Sales announcement earlier this week,' which showed a 7.6 increase.
