Given how risky the restaurant business is, it should not be a big surprise that so many eateries fail after just a few years in business.  However, it seems like the ones that do make it past those first few years are often open for decades.

Belanger’s Drive-In is a prime example.

Located on Main Street in Fairfield, the restaurant has been serving up great food since 1974!  Yes, they have been open for half a century.

Since opening, the restaurant has been locally owned.  The current owners, Joseph & Katie Goodwin, graduated from Lawrence High School and married in 2004.  Belanger’s was Joe’s first high school job.  Because of this, the Goodwin’s developed a great friendship with the former owners.  That made the decision to purchase the business a no-brainer.

The restaurant serves some amazing food, including burgers, clams, scallops, fried fish, lobster rolls, and golden french fries.  Since Belanger’s is a dairy bar, they also serve some amazing ice cream concoctions, too.  Their cyclones are epic!

During the holidays, many people turn to Belanger’s for their Tourtierre pies.

Even though most Central Mainers would say that the restaurant is perfect the way it is, the owners decided that they were going to make one big change in 2024.

For years, the restaurant has always closed for a few months during the winter.  This year, however, they made the decision to stay open for the entire winter.

Even though they are open this winter, they decided to limit the days they’ll be open.  Until March, they’ll be open from 10 AM to 7 PM Tuesday through Saturday.
