These Are the 5 Best Hospitals in Maine in 2024

The last few years have really shown that here in Maine, we have some of the best healthcare workers in the world.

At the beginning of the pandemic, when many people were working from home, they were on the job.  This often put them in danger of catching COVID-19.  After the initial stages of the pandemic, there were battles over healthcare workers vaccine mandates and a lack of workers.  This put strain on our doctors, nurses, and other practitioners.  Still, they went to work.

Because of this dedication, it should not be a big surprise that we have some of the best hospitals in the country.

Recently, Newsweek put out their list of the best hospitals in every state.

One of the things that I really like about this list is that it is not meant to be a ‘popularity contest’.  Instead, it is meant to help people find the best possible healthcare that is close to where they live.

Some states have specialized hospitals listed, too.  While they are not ranked, they have been put on the list to make people aware of them.

As of 2024, there are 36 hospitals in Maine.  Here are the top five:

One of the things that really sticks out to me is that not all of the hospitals are in Maine’s bigger cities.  The hospital in York, which is a smaller town located in the southern part of the state, made the list.  A hospital in the Aroostook County town of Fort Kent did too.
