Cat Burned In Barn Fire Found By Pig

Evening Standard/Getty Images

Gumbo, a 5-year-old cat, was badly burned and presumed dead in a barn fire at the Perry Hill Farm in Bedford, New Hampshire. The fire killed 14 horses, and the owner Harriet Finks said Gumbo was thought to be dead after he couldn’t be found for three days.

However, Miss Colby, a 1,000-pound pig owned by the Finks’ wandered into the woods and located the cat, leading rescuers to his location. Gumbo was badly burned and needed a month and a half of veterinary treatment. Gumbo is expected to recover.
