Country News: Kenny and Taylor Donate Big Bucks to East Tennessee
Seventeen years ago yesterday, December 11 was a big day for Brad Paisley, it was on that day in 1999 that the singer earned his first No. 1 hit with the song ‘He Didn’t Have to Be,’ from his debut album, Who Needs Pictures. Paisley co-wrote the song with his longtime friend and frequent co-writer, Kelley Lovelace. The tune was based on true events from Lovelace’s life.
Happy 11th anniversary to Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. The couple wed on December 10, in 2005, at their home in Owasso, Okla.
Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift are doling out big bucks to help those affected by the recent wildfires in East Tennessee. Both stars are teaming up with popular country music organizations to donate to the relief efforts in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, including Dolly Parton‘s My People Fund. Swift is partnering with the Academy of Country Music to maximize her donation: She’s contributed $100,000 to the My People Fund, which will be matched by the ACM’s charitable arm, Lifting Lives. Kenney Chesney is pledging $250,000 to restoration efforts, with his donation being matched by the Country Music Association.
