Country News: Willie Nelson and Farm Aid Back in 2017
Willie Nelson’s annual Farm Aid concert is back this year with Nelson and board members Neil Young and John Mellencamp. This year is will be held in Burettstown, Pa. on September 16. Farm Aid is far from just a live music festival. Tasteofcountry.com explains that the mission each year is to help family farmers thrive throughout the country. Since its inception in 1985, Farm Aid has raised more than $50 million for family farmers.
According to tasteofcountry.com, Sam Hunt has been announced as one of the headliners for the Taste of Country Music Festival in 2018, joining previously announced headliner Eric Church. Hunt was to perform at this year’s festival but had to cancel for health reasons. This was the fifth year for The Taste of Country Music Festival and drew a record 56,000 fans.
Darius Rucker is sitting comfortably at the top of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, scoring his eighth No. 1 single with “If I Told You.” The song is the first release from his upcoming fifth studio album. Rucker helped open the 2017 CMT Music Awards alongside Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum‘s Charles Kelley for a tribute to the legendary Southern rocker Gregg Allman, who died on May 27. Tasteofcountry.com says he also made appearances throughout 2017 CMA Fest, hosting the eighth annual Darius Rucker & Friends concert at the Ryman Auditorium.
