Deadpool has finally begun filming after over 8 years in development. It's been a long time for Ryan Reynolds and fans of the merc with a mouth, but to help thank you for your support (and help getting this movie made), Reynolds has tweeted out the first look at his new costume in the film.

We hear a lot about gritty new takes on superheroes, but this is most definitely not that.

If that pose looks at all familiar, it's Ryan Reynolds pulling a Burt Reynolds from this classic 70s spread (which might also be NSFW). This new photo certainly strikes the right tone, but can that carry over to the movie. As to whether or not, Deadpool will be R-rated, which we all pretty much agree any good Deadpool movie should be, Reynolds says, “That debate rages on. We'll see.”

Fox has been very fond of PG-13-iffying their movies to appeal to a broader audience (see: A Good Day to Die Hard), and we'd hope that they'd realize by now that doesn't always work. Also, if the last few years at the box-office have proven anything, it's that R-rated films can still be very, very successful (just look at American Sniper, the highest grossing movie of 2014).

In addition to Reynolds, the film stars T.J. Miller as Weasel, Ed Skrien as Garrison Kane, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa and Gina Carano as Angel Dust.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool will be the directorial debut of animation and special effects artist Tim Miller. It opens in less than a year, on February 12, 2016. And it all just goes to show you can’t keep a good (bad) man down (assuming he has an accelerated ability to heal any injury).
