April 22, 2018 marks what would have been the late Glen Campbell's 82nd birthday, and his eldest child, Debby, has a special way for fans to remember his career and musical legacy. She's released The Way We Were, a tribute album in which she sings some of her dad's most beloved hits.

The album, available here, collects 12 Campbell favorites, including the title track, "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," as well as lesser-covered songs such as "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress." The album cover displays a variety of family photos through the years, of Debby with her father.

“As hard as it was to sometimes go into the studio and sing some of dad’s songs, I knew in my heart it would help me get through his loss," Debby explains to fans. "The heartbreak will never go away. This was truly a labor of love and I hope it will mean as much to his fans as it means to me."

The Campbells have faced a good share of inter-family contention since the patriarch's  battle with Alzheimer's disease started, at least as far back as 2011. Debby and her brother, Travis, (who are two of the legend's eight total children) went to court in 2016 after claiming that his fourth wife, Kim, had denied them the right to visit their father during his illness.

The Falk Act — signed into law by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam in 2016 — allows family members and close friends of anyone with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other disabilities to visit a loved one in person or maintain contact with them by phone, email or mail, despite the wishes of a legally appointed conservator.
