Forty-four years ago on October 16, 1972, Loretta Lynn became the first woman to win Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards. Lynn had just released her 18th studio album, Here I Am Again, when she won Entertainer of the Year. She had already notched 25 Top 10 singles, including the No. 1 hits ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ and ‘Don’t Come Home a’Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind).’

The 2016 CMA Awards will take time to honor this year’s awards winners, of course, but the show will also be about looking back at the awards’ 50-year history. In keeping with that theme, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will be performing a medley of some of country music’s most famous duets. They have yet to be officially announced as performers. So far only Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Maren Morris, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley have been revealed as performers for the show.
