Happy anniversary to the best person I will ever know Faith Hill

Posted by Tim McGraw on Tuesday, October 6, 2015

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are celebrating their wedding anniversary on Tuesday (Oct. 6), but on Facebook, McGraw is celebrating the day he proposed. It happened at Country Jam in Grand Junction, Colo., and his bride-to-be took a little convincing.

On June 26, 1996, McGraw says he and Hill stood in his dressing room trailer (see pics of the fabulous locale in the video above) and he continued a half-joking conversation he'd been having for awhile, asking her to marry him. Then he got serious.

“I looked at her and grabbed her by the hands right before I went on stage, she’d already done her show. And I said ‘I’m really serious, I want you to marry me,’” McGraw says.

“And she laughed and said, ‘We’re at a country music festival in a trailer house and you’re asking me to marry you?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’”

She didn't answer. He went on stage, but before he left, he asked again, taking a marker to an armoire mirror he carried from show to show.

“When I came back off stage, in sharpie, with a lipstick at the end of it. A lipstick kiss, it said, ‘Yes! I’m gonna be your wife.’”

McGraw — a 2016 WE Fest headliner – told fans the story during 2015 Country Jam in Colorado. He even tried to get Hill on the phone for the crowd to shout "We love you Faith!" during the show. You see that in the video as well. The couple still has that mirror.
