As retail giant Amazon is scouting locales for a new headquarters, the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority is making a play to get them to come to Maine.

According to WMTW, MRRA Executive Director Steve Levesque has submitted a proposal to Amazon.

The Portland Press Herald is saying Scarborough is hoping to attract the retailer.  Their plan is to suggest the company open its new HQ at the Scarborough Downs site.  Apparently, the 483 acre space does meet most of Amazon's criteria.  The one sticking point might be that Amazon wants the facility to be in a metropolitan area with a population of at least 1,000,000.

If it does come to Maine, the new Amazon facility could employ up to 50,000 people.

Does this mean we'd be able to get Amazon drone delivery?
