Drivers earlier this week in Portland probably did a double take at a construction road sign. The electronic construction sign read 'warning zombies ahead!' The sign was suppose to read, 'Night work 8pm to 6am expect delays'. This was an early Halloween prank that did not amuse city officals.

Maybe it was a salute to the season premiere of the popular television show, The Walking Dead, which started season 3 on October 14th. City spokeswoman Nicole Gregg says the signs are a safety precaution and changing it could have led to driver distraction. She also adds that tampering with a safety device is a misdemeaner punishable by a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
