In what is being called the largest illegal eel possession in the history of Maine, Maine’s Marine Patrol arrest 41 year old Phillip Parker of Canada, seizing $61,000 worth of baby eels.  The baby eels are known as elvers and fisherman need a license to harvest them but Parker did not have a license when he was caught with 41 pounds of eels. The value of elvers is at $2,000 a pound and as many as 20 fines have been handed out since the season began two weeks ago. Authorities expect the illegal activity to pick-up as the weather warms, but Parker's case is off the charts. With the prices set so high this year for the baby eels, poachers are expected to out in full force.
