Mr. Spock has been beamed up. Leonard Nimoy who played Mr. Spock in the Star Trek TV series and in several movies, passed away at 83.

The cause of death was obstructive pulmonary disease. He died in his home in Los Angeles according to his son. William Shatner, his longtime friend and co-star in the Star Trek franchise, mourned his death by saying ‘I loved him like a brother’.

Samantha Cristoetti, and Italian astronaut, tweeted, ‘Live Long and Prosper, Mr. Spock.

After starring in the TV series with William Shatner and DeForest Kelly, the three went on to star in six Star Trek movies, Nimoy directing two of them.
