Seventy-five years ago today, the U.S. base in Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese war planes, resulting in the United States entering World War II. Today, three-quarters of a century after what President Franklin D. Roosevelt called "a day that would live in infamy," there was a special ceremony in Gardiner commemorating the day.

Organized by Robert Hoe, the ceremony featured an honor guard and a performance of the National Anthem and Taps. The group also decorated the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge over the Kennebec River with flags to honor the lives lost that day.
