Typhoon in the Philippines: How You Can Help?

This weekend (Nov 8-9) Typhoon Haiyan/Typhoon Yolanda devastated the Philippines. Thousands are feared dead and millions will need basic aid. Here’s a list of organizations already stepping in to help.

The Red Cross: the Philippines Red Cross has already sprung into action to assist families in reconnecting.

The United Nations’ Childrens’ Fund (UNICEF): They are currently rushing relief supplies to the region. Up to four million children could be affected by the disaster.

The International Rescue Committee: They are sending teams to assist in the Philippines. They respond to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives.

Doctors Without Borders: They work in nearly 70 countries providing medical aid to those most in need regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation.

The International Medical Corps’ Emergency Response Fund: They are gathering teams to send to the Philippines. It is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.

Save The Children: They are currently preparing to assist in the Philippines. They supports children and families around the world affected by disaster.

Mercy Corps: They deploy emergency responders to work with partners on the ground to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of survivors. Providing food, water, shelter and other basic supplies.

CARE: Their emergency response teams are coordinating with local partners in the Philippines to provide food, water, shelter and health care for those in need.

Habitat for Humanity:  They are already providing help to 30,000 families with shelter repair kits to rebuild their damaged homes.
