A very scary incident, that could have had a terrible outcome, was avoided this week (Dec. 16) at the Maine State Museum in Augusta. All thanks to a quick thinking receptionist.

The Capitol Police say the quick-thinking employee stopped an attempted abduction of a 2-year-old girl, whose grandmother had turned her back while hanging up coats. James Cavallaro, 58, is accused of grabbing the girl and then tried to leave the building with her.

The police found Cavallaro in the parking lot. He was arrested on the charge of assault and violating conditions of release. He was out on bail on an unrelated charge in Sagadahoc County. He is currently being held at the Kennebec County jail on $1,000 bail.
