Rumford Powerlifter,81,Seeks 8th World Title

Ricahrd 'Dick' G. Austin, 81, of Rumford,Maine has won every powerlifting competition he's entered in his 68-year career! This November, he'll compete in the 220 pound class in the Master Division (ages 80-84) in the World Bench Press and Dead Lift Championships at Bally's/Paris Resort in Las Vegas

Austin has set many world and national records and was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall Of Fame in 1999 and he'll be inducted into the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters Hall Of Fame. Austin says he can bench and dead lift over 350 pounds on each lifitng element.

His secret to lifting longevity? Consistent training, a good mindset, motivation and he stays away from alcohol, tobacco and drugs.

There'll be a benefit event coming up on October 13th on Franklin Street in Rumford with raffles, auctions, music and more to help with his expenses to Las Vegas.
