Some Country Radio Stations Pull Little Big Town’s ‘Girl Crush’
Country radio stations across the nation are pulling the latest song by Little Big Town called 'Girl Crush'. Radio stations are claiming that many listeners have received calls and e-mails accusing the song of 'promoting a gay agenda'.
The ballad is about a woman envious of her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend.
Here is part of the lyrics that some listeners are upset with. 'I want to taste her lips, yeah cause they taste like you. I want to drown myself in a bottle of her perfume. I want her long blond hair, I want her magic touch. Yeah cause maybe then, you'd want me just as much. I got a girl crush.'
Girl Crush is #4 on iTunes and is selling about 25,000 copies a week but is lagging in radio airplay due to the many listeners calls and e-mails.B98.5 is playing the song and is one of the more requested songs during our All Request Beestro weekdays at noon.
